Bright Sound is a sophisticated media player designed for audio files, offering a comprehensive suite of features tailored to enhance user experience. Its gesture control capabilities, such as shaking the device to pause/unpause and flipping to skip to the next track, provide intuitive navigation, although these features are relatively rare among similar applications. Users can enjoy flexible media playback options, including browsing and playing content from their device's media library—supporting filtering for albums with a minimum of five tracks—and playing multiple files or directories from external SD cards. It also supports streaming from network storage solutions like SFTP and SMB, as well as playlist formats like XSPF and M3U stored on the SD card.

A notable feature is the intelligent memorization of playback positions, with the application recalling the last fifty albums, playlists, or directories played. It preserves the exact playback position for each item, facilitating seamless resumption of interrupted audiobooks or playlists. All playbacks are logged in a comprehensive history, allowing easy tracking of listening activity.

The home screen includes various widgets—small for basic play/pause control, medium providing additional skip and current track display, and large with cover art and full controls—offering versatile access points. An optional feature to halt playback after the current track adds convenience for timed listening sessions.

Navigation within tracks is enhanced by precise seek buttons, enabling jumps of 10 seconds, one minute, and ten minutes forward or backward, providing more control than standard progress bars. The integrated equalizer (available on Android 2.3 and higher) allows users to fine-tune audio playback.

Playlist management includes adding specific artists, albums, tracks, files, playlists, or directories; removing items; reordering via move operations; shuffling; sorting by file path, artist, or title; and repositioning tracks within playlists.

The application supports various playback modes such as scheduled sleep timers (minutes or fixed times), continuous play of all titles with stopping options, repeat modes (all or single track), and a 'play current title and stop' setting. Visual customization is also available through different themes or skins.
